JulieMay organic cotton and silk bra, made for comfort and community

From Manchester to London: Building a Community Around Comfort and Confidence

Quick answer: JulieMay, the UK allergy-friendly lingerie brand, hosts women's health community events in Manchester and London, bringing women together for honest, expert-led conversations about sensitive skin, hormones, menopause and body confidence. The Manchester event raised funds for Wellbeing of Women, and speakers covered menopause, skincare and the link between emotions and physical tension. The events directly shape the brand's future products and content.

At JulieMay, we create comfort-first lingerie for women with sensitive skin, including those affected by allergies to latex, metal, synthetic fibres or elastane. Community has always been part of our mission. We believe honest conversation is the first step to better support, and that women should not have to navigate symptoms, body changes and confidence struggles in silence.

So we brought women together in two cities, Manchester and London. No lectures. No awkward sales push. Just real conversations, expert insight, and a room full of women who finally did not have to explain themselves.

Why we do these events

Because being fine is exhausting when you are not fine. So many women are managing skin sensitivity, hormone shifts, body-confidence struggles and mixed messages all at once. We wanted to create women's health community events where people can learn, ask, laugh, exhale and leave feeling stronger than when they arrived.

These evenings are about connection, education and care: expert-led discussions, thoughtful goodie bags, warm conversation and a few special surprises. For anyone looking for practical support beyond the event, these are trusted resources we often recommend:

Manchester at Daisy: honest conversations that hit home

We welcomed around 40 attendees in Manchester, including customers, creators, businesswomen and community voices. The energy in the room was open, brave and genuinely supportive. This was a not-for-profit event, and all ticket proceeds were donated to Wellbeing of Women to support women facing medical neglect.

Our speakers

Loretta Dignam, Founder and CEO of The Menopause Hub and Menopause Hub Academy. Loretta brought clarity, warmth and the bigger picture, speaking about the 3Ms, menstruation, maternity and menopause, and why learning early changes everything.

Our gift to you is knowing about menopause and pre-menopause in advance. Once you know that, that is the gift. Information is power. Being forewarned is forearmed.

Emma Willott, beauty writer and founder of Parlor Beauty. Emma cut through the noise around skin and beauty with honest, real-world advice.

The things people think they have to do to achieve good skin can actually be doing the opposite. The bottom line for everything to do with skin is to know that everybody is different.

Gemma Donnelly, founder of The Self Club. Gemma brought emotional truth into the room and explained how anxiety, shame and unspoken pressure can show up physically in the body.

Any emotion that is not expressed gets stored and then manifests as physical pain, tension in the jaw, your neck, your lower back. Those emotions that do not express get stored, and they will show up in the body.

London in Mayfair: softer setting, equally powerful conversations

Our Mayfair brunch had a different pace but the same heart, with more intimate tables and more one-to-one chats. We talked about nutrients, menopause, body shame, skin sensitivity, and what confidence really looks like in real life.

What we are doing next

These events are not side projects. They are shaping what we build next. We are continuing to design for women with sensitive skin and allergies to latex, metal, synthetic fibres and elastane. We are improving fit support so buying feels clearer and less stressful. We are creating more content around skin comfort, hormones, confidence and everyday care. And we are planning more in-person events, because this community is growing for a reason.
